Our club member Lucinda P. has been diligently working on the garden redesign at the Waverly Center in Portland. This garden is Lucinda’s master gardener project and we are so proud of her! 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻

In late summer she organized a group of garden club volunteers to weed and clear out the narrow bed along the back of the building (where the gas/water gauges are).

In the garden bed in these photos (for the master gardener project), the bed was cleared out and prepared by Nate Strycharz and crew. Nate spread top soil on the bed to prepare it for planting and then met with Lucinda on planting day to help get the 16 shrubs into the ground.

“I could not have done all that without his assistance,” said Lucinda.

Now the focus is on building small erosion-control walls and putting in some ground cover.
