Container Garden Entrants for the Street Garden Project
The Street Garden Project is underway and today we are featuring our Container Garden entrants - our largest entry category!
We have 15 entrants in this category, shown below in alphabetical order:
Brownstone Bottle Shop
Connecticut Valley School of Music and Dance
Gardener's Bouquets LLC in partnership with Xpress Fuel
Lily Rose Gardens in partnership with Savvy Swap Consignment
PegArch Architecture and Design in partnership with Tropical CT
Participating Main Street businesses had the opportunity to enter up to four categories: Window boxes, Container Garden, In-Ground Garden and Hanging Baskets. Each category will be evaluated by a small group of judges made up of the PRVGC and the Portland Economic Development Commission in early July, who will award a Blue Ribbon to the winner.
In July, Portland residents will also have the ability to vote for their favorite garden for the Portland’s Choice Award. This award takes into consideration the entire garden that the Main Street business has created - regardless of how many categories have been entered.
Voting will take place two ways: (1) online through the Portland CT Community Facebook Group or (2) for individuals who are not on social media, there will be an option to drop off a paper ballot at the Senior Center and the Portland Library.
Remember to walk Main Street to see the gardens in person to pick your favorite in the coming weeks!
