Seed Swap Success!

Club members Margaret and Ginny taught visitors how to sow basil and chive seeds.

Thanks to everyone who braved the bitter cold to join in the fun at the Seed Swap! There was a lot of seed swapping, learning and garden dreaming happening! We had a hearty selection of soups, stews and desserts to keep us fueled throughout the event, made by our talented members.

Lots to learn at the Seed Swap stations.

Special thanks to:

  • Our sponsors - Burpee Seeds, Harts Seeds, NE Seed, MI Gardener and Baker Creek Seeds - for donating seeds so we had a great collection to start out with!
  • The Portland Library Seed Library for joining the fun!
  • Portland Starbucks for donating coffee grounds for use in the garden,
  • River Bend Bookshop for hosting a garden-themed, pop up book fair!
  • And of course, special thanks to the Waverly Portland Senior Center for letting us use their space to host the event.
What a great day! 🌱💚 Should we do it again next year?

Special thanks to Robert Doherty for the photos taken throughout the event, shown above and below:
