Happy Pollinator Week!
Download the clue sheet here or visit the Portland Library to pick up a paper copy this week (June 22-28).
The clues will guide you through a scavenger hunt across seven Portland gardens. Visit the Veterans Memorial Garden, the Town Hall Entrance Garden, the Pollinator Garden at the Air Line Trail, the Brownstone Garden, Portland Riverfront Park, the Waverly Senior Center, and the Portland Library. See how many plants you can sleuth out from the clues alone. Don't worry - the answers are hidden in the gardens!
Bring the kids, bring a friend, or just bring yourself and a few minutes of curiosity. Jot your answers as you go, and drop your completed sheet off at the Portland Library by Monday, June 29. Everyone who turns one in gets a small prize, and correct entries are entered into a drawing for a free plant.
There's also a bonus round: once you've found all seven, write your own clue describing a pollinator you spotted along the way. We'd love to see what you come up with.
Get out there before the week is over. The bees and butterflies already have a head start!
P.S. Check out our Facebook and Instagram accounts for fun facts about pollinators this week!
